Chili paneer – 5 minutes recipe
Chili paneer(Cottage Cheese) as name suggested paneer cooked in spicy chili sauce. You can have mild version by reducing chili spice in dish, they it will be mild chili paneer taste same but as per your taste.
This dish is easy to make for friends & family and can be starved as starter or can be a full meal. It’s healthy and heavy, feels full after a bowl of chili paneer.
INGREDIENTS:
Paneer 2 cup cut in 1 inch cubes
Capsicum 1 small size (Optional)
Onion 1 medium chopped
Garlic chopped 1 tbsp(optional)
Tomato paste 4 tbsp
Cornstarch 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Spring onions chopped for garnishing (optional)
Green chilies chopped 1 tbsp(optional for mild version)
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
METHOD:
- Cut the capsicum in 1 inch square pieces.
- In a bow add cornstarch with some water to make a dripping consistency paste. add little salt and pinch of turmeric powder in cornstarch paste.
- Heat oil in deep frying pan. Now dip paneer cubes in cornstarch paste and fry in hot oil on medium heat.
When it’s fried and change color to golden brown (not over cooked)take out on absorption paper. - In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil add garlic and let it cook for 1 min. add onions and caramelize them till it get soft.
Now add tomato paste, turmeric powder, chili powder , green chilies and salt and mix together. - Mix 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 tsp of cornstarch and make a paste. Add this paste to tomato, onion mixture and cook it on medium flame , keep stirring so it won’t stick at bottom of pan.
- Add fried paneer , capsicum cubes and salt mix everything together, if you feel it’s very dry you can add 2 tbsp of hot water to it. Cover it with lid for 2 mins.
- Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
