Spicy black channa
Black channa (kala channa) is full of iron. For vegetarians it’s a best options to have full of iron and nutrients by consuming black channa. In north India, Some people like roasted Black channa as a snack. This dish Spicy black Channa is usually prepared in India on festival occasion i.e. Durga Puja, Astmi etc.
lets see the method of cooking and ingredients:
Ingredients:
Kala channa(black peas) 200 gram
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1/3 tsp
Red chilli powder 1/3 tsp (As
Per taste)
Amchoor( dry mango powder) 1/2 tsp
Crusted roasted cumin 1/3 tap
Oil 2 tsp
Method:
- Wash and soak kala channa overnight or minimum 8 hours before cooking.
- After soaking add kal channa to pressure cooker and add 4 cups of water.
- Add salt and turmeric powder in it with 1 tsp oil in it and close the lid.keep pressure cooker on high flame and let it steam up, after first whistle, slow down flame to medium. Boil it on medium flame to 25-30 minutes(approx 10-11 whistles in pressure cooker ) and after that switch off the stove.
- In a iron pan or non stick pan add oil and roast cumin seeds, add coriander powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
- Add boiled channa in it and mix well. Let channa to cook in all spices , with water absorb in it. After water absorb and it dried a bit add roasted cumin seeds powder and anchor powder.
- Mix well and serve immediately with roti ,puri or with any other bread.
