Puri (fried wheat bread)

Puri (indian fried wheat bread) is fried bread crispy  layer  on top , served with Indian curries like potato curry(aloo-puri), channa-puri, etc.. it’s is served hot or some people love to make big lot and can reheat on pan and like to eat with yogurt only. lets see the ingredients and method to make puri:

Ingredients

  • whole wheat flour 2 cup
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • water to make dough 1/3 cup
  • salt 1/3 tsp
  • carom seeds pinch (optional)
  • Oil for frying

 

Method:

  • Mix flour, salt , oil , carom seeds in a bowl and add water to make dough.
  • Mix well and knead the medium soft dough for 1 minute. Add 1 tsp of water if dough is tight and knead again for 30 seconds.
  • Dough should not be soft as dough for roti.
  • Cover the dough in bowl and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  • In a deep fry pan add oil for frying and switch in flame 🔥
  • Make balls of all dough in approx. 1-1.5 inch size .
  • Use oil to flat the ball with the help of rolling pin to make flat bread(don’t use dry flour to roll the puris, dry flour will burn while frying)
  • Fry rolled bread in medium hot oil, press from top with the help of spatula so it will puff puris and flip carefully in hot oil.
  • Fry it from both sides and take it out on paper towel for extra oil to be absorb by paper towel.
  • serve with any veg curry.
