Pattagobhi (cabbage) aloo ki sabji

Easy and mild flavored pattagobhi aloo sabji ready in 5 minutes. Pattagobhi (cabbage) is from lettuce family that have lots of leaves only difference is lettuce is having more water content than cabbage. That’s why lettuce is preferring to eat as salad not for cooking. Both looks same but if you pick each lettuce is less dense, cabbage is dense inside and have tight layers.  Pattagobhi Ki sabji is easy to cook and takes less time because of it’s water contents that help to easily cook it in less time.

let’s start our recipe of pattagobhi , aloo ki sabji

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage 500 gram
  • Potato 2 medium size
  • Tomato 1 medium size
  • Green peas 1/3 cup
  • Cooking Oil 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • Olive oil(For vegan) or ghee 1 tbsp

Method:

  • Remove top layer of cabbage and discard it. Wash cabbage properly and slice it at medium thickness not very thin slicing.
  • Peel potatoes, wash and cut in cubes
  • Chop tomato finely.
  • In a deep pan add oil and add cumin seeds. Roast cumin seeds when it crackles add coriander powder, turmeric, red chilli powder and mix it.
  • Add tomatoes and let it cook for 1 minutes till it gets soft. Add potatoes, peas, salt, 2 tbsp water and mix well. Cover the pan and let it cook for 2 minutes on medium flame to potatoes to cook little bit.
  • After 2 minutes add pattagobhi to it and mix well. Cover for 2 more minutes and let everything cook well.
  • When potatoes and peas cook well. Uncover the pan. add roasted cumin seeds and add ghee/olive oil cook it without covering on high flame for 1 minute So all the water gets evaporated and pattagobhi sabji with get some fried Crunchy texture.
  • When all water gets evaporated, add garam masala and switch off the flame and serve it with roti, pratha or naan.

Note — Pattagobhi (cabbage)need to add after potatoes cook little bit because pattagobhi leaves water while cooking and get soggy. That why cabbage need less time to cook than potatoes.
